Hi there, I would want to draw y'all's attention to something before us which perhaps most of us here may have not yet foreseen;

And would like to share the little experience I've had on the field and throw some more light on what we are to expect in these times so as to position ourselves better.

Few days after our last paper, I tried to get myself occupied by getting a job around to kill boredomness and also earn something as well as I wait for my NSS postings.

I visited several offices (privates offices) with the hope to get an opportunity of any kind and upon many tries up to date, these were the findings I came by;

● The major "excuse" now on the market now is "the COVID'19 is really doing all businesses harm"

This has now become a cliché for some time now across board. Most offices I visited said this same thing. Some went ahead to explain and this was how one of them went down.

Manager: "as a result of this COVID outbreak, we were forced to lay off some staff whose operations weren't that crucial and as we speak, they are still home/on standby hoping to be called back because business have become slow. He explained futher with this question;

"in such a case if you were to be the manager of this firm, would you like to employ these laid off staff who at least over the years have acquired some skills in the organisation or you'll prefer to go in for new/fresh hands......?

At this point, I totally understood where he was driving at.

After this engagement; as usual, he asked me to still submit an application letter and keep my fingers crossed.

Now there's a new batch of service personnel ready to be introduced into the system.

How sure are we that we're going to be accepted after the postings with this COVID issue at hand, since some institutions are still yet to call back their laid off staff.

How safe are we my dear graduands....?

Looking at the bigger picture, what even happens after national service....???

Are there still job opportunities out there in these times....???

Are those "links" we thought we had during school days going to still work in this COVID times....???

Let's just think through.... Remember there are already experienced staff pending, waiting to be called back. Where then is our fate.....??

The only surest way to go is to start something now.

Enough of the "dreaming and talks" A roaring lion kills no game!

No matter how small it is. Just find yourself something to do before you find yourslef caught in the net.

It's never pleasant out there and those that for years after schools haven't secured any job can attest to that fact.

Life after school hasn't been easy and especially in these times, they will say.

We could probably expect more and so we need to act fast and swiftly so not to get sucked in this unemployment traffic.

Let's start draining off the water from our canoes before it gets filled especially in these times of uncertainties.

It's rather unfortunate times now are becoming extremely hard. Hence I write to edge all graduands to either become a mountain or find one to lean on.

Don't allow yourself to be carried away!

This is the time to get going.

As the African proverb goes; "knowledge is like a garden, if it is not cultivated, it cannot be harvested."

This is the time to practicalize the knowledge acquired and no other time!.

The future is now my dear graduands.

Gather some friends, share ideas and start something.

The world can still become a better place through our collective effort.

Let's take charge of our lives and destiny and travel the uncharted path and I know for sure that we will see the light at the end of it all.

Go for gold dear Graduands.

We believe in You!
